Dress to Look Taller—And Slimmer
Flatter your figure! You don't
have to dress in black or dark colors all the time to look tall and slim.
-
Select monochromatic, or
one-color, outfits, but add color with a blazer, sweater, or overshirt.
Leave them unbuttoned to emphasize vertical lines. This will make you
look taller. Also, mix a long jacket with a short skirt, a short jacket
with pants. Try different combinations for the look you want.
-
Choose outfits with vertical
stripes. Stripes can colorful, contrasting, or neutral, but they should
always be vertical.
-
Mix textures, such as knits
with leather. This add interest to a monochromatic outfit.
-
Try loosely tied scarves
with long, dangling ends.
-
Be sure the color of your
pantyhose or socks matches the color of your skirt, pants, or shoes.
-
Wear long necklaces and
pendants. No chokers!
-
Use slim belts or ties, but
no big belts, which can make you look shorter and wider by visually
cutting you in half.
-
Wear straight skirts. Skirts
should be longer than they are wide. No A-shaped, fan-shaped, or
gathered skirts.
-
Choose heels that are at
least one inch high.
-
Wear V-necks to make your
neck look longer.
-
If you are 5'3" or less in
height, scale everything down to petite size. Select prints with smaller
designs, pockets, and buttons. You don’t want your clothing or
accessories to overpower your figure.
